🛠 Key Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze global and regional policy developments in climate, peace, and security.

Support UN-wide participation in the Climate Security Mechanism—a joint initiative with UNEP and UNDP.

Conduct research and thematic analysis, contributing to UN reporting and briefings.

Provide substantive support to field missions and political offices working on climate-related security risks.

Maintain liaison with UN agencies, governments, and NGOs, and monitor intergovernmental decisions.

Assist in organizing and participating in fact-finding missions.

Draft background notes, policy briefs, talking points, and support senior officials.

Keep abreast of current events and provide expert advice to internal UN actors.

Contribute to joint knowledge management, policy alignment, and capacity-building programs.

Perform other duties as required by CPSU/PMD leadership.
🎓 Qualifications
🎓 Education:

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in political science, international relations, climate policy, or a related field.

A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted.
💼 Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, diplomacy, peacebuilding, or related climate-security work.

Demonstrated field-level experience with UN, government, or international organizations is an advantage.

Experience working in conflict-affected settings, climate security, or interagency coordination is strongly desirable.

Fluency in English is required.

Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
