💼 Role Overview: Communications Specialist

As a core member of the communications team, you’ll report to the Communications Manager and work across departments to tell the Aflatoun story globally. This role combines strategic content development, social media leadership, campaign execution, and partner engagement.

Contract Type: Consultancy
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Location: Remote (anywhere)
Salary: Based on Aflatoun’s local salary scale, considering cost of living and experience

📌 Key Responsibilities

✍️ Content Creation & Strategy

• Research, write, and edit blogs, newsletters, and reports

• Develop high-impact stories that highlight Aflatoun’s work with youth

• Collaborate with program teams to turn field impact into compelling content

📱 Social Media & Digital Engagement

• Manage daily social media activity across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook & X (Twitter)

• Design graphics and schedule posts aligned with Aflatoun’s voice and brand

• Update the website (WordPress) and optimize content for SEO

🎤 Events & Campaign Support

• Promote and provide coverage for events and awareness campaigns

• Support live social media coverage and post-event reporting

• Assist with virtual event production (Zoom, livestreams, webinars)

🧩 Strategic & Donor Communications

• Support grant writing and fundraising campaigns

• Assist with donor reports and stakeholder engagement

• Help maintain a content calendar and contribute to internal planning

🎓 Ideal Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, or a related field

Required Skills

• Excellent English writing and editing skills

• Proven ability to manage social media accounts and produce content

• Strong visual storytelling (graphics, photography, video clips)

• Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva or Adobe Suite

• Experience in education, youth development, or global NGOs is a plus

• Bonus: Fluency in French, Spanish, or Russian
