Are you an expert English-Russian Interpreter and Translator who deeply cares about the environment? If so, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), through its OzonAction Compliance Assistance Programme (CAP), needs a skilled ECA Outreach Consultant. This role actively supports crucial environmental efforts in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region. Ultimately, you’ll have a unique chance to directly help global efforts under the Montreal Protocol from a home-based role.
About This Key ECA Outreach Consultant Role
As an ECA Outreach Consultant, you’ll be vital in making sure information is clear and easy to get for Russian-speaking country representatives within the ECA network. Your work will directly help countries meet their goals to reduce ozone-damaging substances and lower global-warming HFCs.
Here’s what you’ll do in this consultant position:
- First, you’ll arrange and manage virtual meetings, ensuring smooth English-Russian simultaneous interpretation.
- Next, you’ll also provide high-quality translations and layout into Russian for various materials. These include, for example, meeting documents, presentations, and key information (like WOD, WRD, WWD materials, and factsheets related to the Montreal Protocol).
- Furthermore, you’ll contribute to the successful delivery of the ECA work programme 2025 and CAP business plan 2025.
Indeed, you will work remotely, and the OzonAction Coordinator for the Montreal Protocol Network in Europe and Central Asia will guide you. Therefore, you won’t need to travel for this position.
Work Location & Duration for the ECA Outreach Consultant
This ECA Outreach Consultant role is home-based, offering flexibility. Specifically, it has an expected duration of 2 months spread over 7.5 months.
Who We’re Looking For
We need a highly qualified professional who meets these requirements:
- Education: You need a Bachelor’s degree in English or a similar field. In addition, you must hold an official qualification as an accredited English-Russian interpreter and translator.
- Experience: You must have at least five years of practical experience in English-Russian interpreting and translating.
- Outreach Material Development: You should show proven experience in creating public outreach materials. This includes, for instance, translating, designing the layout, editing, checking, and proofreading.
- Technical Skills: You must know how to set up video conferencing with simultaneous interpretation.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Knowledge of Montreal Protocol language and terms is essential.
Language Skills Required
- You must be fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Similarly, you must be fluent in both spoken and written Russian.
