Data Analyst & Visualization Internship

Data Analyst Internship UN – Help Create Change at the UN!

Are you a bright and motivated person who loves using information to make a real difference? If so, the Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the UN’s Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) is looking for a talented individual for a Data Analyst Internship UN. This is an amazing chance to gain real-world experience at a leading international group and directly help with important global efforts.

About This Important Data Analyst Internship

As a Data Analyst Intern, you’ll play a key role in turning raw information into clear insights and easy-to-understand visuals. Your work will directly strengthen our efforts to improve how the UN handles sexual exploitation and abuse. Therefore, you’ll be working on projects that truly matter and help make the world a safer place.

Here are the main tasks you’ll handle as a Data Analyst Intern:

  • First, you’ll help collect, clean, and organize data, making sure it’s accurate and ready to be used.
  • Next, you’ll look closely at large sets of data to find important trends and patterns that help us make better choices.
  • Also, you’ll create clear and effective charts, dashboards, and reports using different tools to show our findings.
  • In addition, you’ll help prepare engaging presentations and materials that explain data in simple terms.
  • Finally, you’ll work closely with our team to understand their data needs and provide useful, data-based solutions.

Location & Expected Duration for Your UN Internship

This important Data Analyst Internship lasts 4 to 6 months, and we’d ideally like you to start on August 4, 2025.

While the main location is UN Headquarters in New York, we can be flexible! Specifically, depending on what our team needs (and with the UN’s approval), your UN internship could be:

  • Onsite at UNHQ in New York.
  • A mix of in-person and remote work, starting in New York and then working from home.
  • Alternatively, it could be fully remote, which offers great flexibility for the right person.

No matter where you work, interns are expected to work five days a week (35 hours) under the direct guidance of a staff member from OSCSEA, ensuring you get consistent support and learning.

Who We Need for This Data Analyst Role

We’re looking for enthusiastic and smart individuals who meet one of these school requirements:

  • You are currently studying for, or have finished, a graduate degree (like a Master’s degree or higher).
  • Or, you are currently in, or have finished, the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program.

Even if you don’t have past work experience, it’s important that your school background, related classes, and skills will directly help the United Nations during your Data Analyst Internship. So, this is your chance to use what you’ve learned in school to solve real-world problems.

Language Skills Required for Your UN Internship

  • You must speak fluent English. Indeed, this is our main language for all official communication.
  • Knowing French is a plus and would be a strong benefit, as the UN uses many languages.
  • Also, being able to speak another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is an advantage, and could expand your potential impact.

Important Information for Applicants

  • Please note, this is an unpaid internship. Therefore, you are responsible for all travel costs, visa fees, housing, and daily living expenses. We strongly suggest you plan your finances carefully.
  • About Visas & Work Permits: If you are not a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or on another non-immigrant visa (like an F1 or J1), you will need to get a G4 visa for internships in the United States. Because of this, selected candidates must get valid visas and work permits (CPT/OPT/AT) before starting the Data Analyst Internship UN. As a result, we strongly advise you to talk about your specific visa needs and timeline with us before you accept an offer to make sure everything goes smoothly.
