Mission and objectives
UpdaIOM Tanzania works with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, communities, UN agencies, development partners and civil society to support safe, orderly and regular migration, strengthen migration governance, enhance protection and assistance to vulnerable migrants and affected communities, and contribute to resilience, preparedness and sustainable development priorities across the country. Strategic communications, visibility and public information are essential to communicate IOM Tanzania’s work, demonstrate results, strengthen donor and partner visibility, support evidence-based public messaging, and ensure coherent Country Office communications across programmes. The role will therefore support mission-level communications and visibility requirements, including content development, event communications, public information materials, social media updates, newsletters, donor visibility products, internal updates and documentation of key activities. Within this wider mission context, the RE2CLID – Resilience and Climate-Induced Displacement Programme supports governments, communities and partners in the Lake Tanganyika basin to address climate- and disaster-related displacement through integrated approaches that strengthen preparedness and coordination while advancing community-driven recovery, resilience and longer-term solutions. Under the supervision of the Head of Programmes, in collaboration with the Project Officer – MECC/DRR and in coordination with relevant programme teams and regional/global communications colleagues as needed, the UN National Volunteer will support the planning, production, clearance and dissemination of communications and visibility products for both IOM Tanzania mission-level priorities and RE2CLID programme activities. This includes field missions, stakeholder consultations, community engagement, donor visibility, media content, social media updates, newsletters, human-interest stories, photo and video documentation, event visibility, internal updates and knowledge products.Context
