The consultant will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)/Knowledge Management (KM) team within UNICEF’s Office of Innovation. This team ensures that UNICEF maximizes the impact of innovative solutions for children through rigorous evidence, data-driven decision-making, and scalable approaches.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Assess emerging and trending technologies in the 2–5-year horizon to evaluate their potential for child-focused services.

• Support investment in early-stage, high-potential solutions, including the UNICEF Venture Fund.

• Identify and help scale proven solutions from pilot countries to multiple regions, benefiting millions of children.

• Lead evaluations using mixed methods, RCT designs, and participatory approaches with a focus on digital learning and technology solutions.

• Provide training, quality assurance, and technical guidance to local coordinators and partners.

• Develop user-friendly evidence products (infographics, briefs, reports) to translate complex data into actionable insights.

🔹 Requirements

• Advanced degree in International Development, Economics, Education, Gender Studies, Psychology, Computer Science, or related fields.

• 8+ years of experience in development research, assessments, and evaluations (qualitative & quantitative).

• Strong expertise in mixed methods evaluation, RCT design, and digital solutions assessment.

• Experience with cost-effectiveness analysis for education or digital programs.

• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate applied research projects.

• Excellent English communication, writing, and presentation skills.

• Familiarity with UN frameworks on human rights, gender, and equity.

• Experience in Eastern and Southern Africa is an asset.
