UNICEF is offering an exciting remote consultancy opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about innovation, data, and global child welfare. The consultant will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)/Knowledge Management (KM) team within UNICEF’s Office of Innovation. This team ensures that UNICEF maximizes the impact of innovative solutions for children through rigorous evidence, data-driven decision-making, and scalable approaches.
🔹 Key Responsibilities

Assess emerging and trending technologies in the 2–5-year horizon to evaluate their potential for child-focused services.

Support investment in early-stage, high-potential solutions, including the UNICEF Venture Fund.

Identify and help scale proven solutions from pilot countries to multiple regions, benefiting millions of children.

Lead evaluations using mixed methods, RCT designs, and participatory approaches with a focus on digital learning and technology solutions.

Provide training, quality assurance, and technical guidance to local coordinators and partners.

Develop user-friendly evidence products (infographics, briefs, reports) to translate complex data into actionable insights.
🔹 Requirements

Advanced degree in International Development, Economics, Education, Gender Studies, Psychology, Computer Science, or related fields.

8+ years of experience in development research, assessments, and evaluations (qualitative & quantitative).

Strong expertise in mixed methods evaluation, RCT design, and digital solutions assessment.

Experience with cost-effectiveness analysis for education or digital programs.

Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate applied research projects.

Excellent English communication, writing, and presentation skills.

Familiarity with UN frameworks on human rights, gender, and equity.

Experience in Eastern and Southern Africa is an asset.
