Internship Opportunity: Communications and Advocacy Intern – UNDP Seoul Policy Centre

You’ll play a vital role in expanding USPC’s reach and influence through engaging content, strategic outreach, and impactful advocacy.

What You’ll Do as a UNDP Communications Intern:
Under the guidance of professional staff, you will contribute significantly to the Centre’s communications, advocacy, and outreach efforts. Your duties will mainly include:
- Communications & Content Creation (60%): You’ll help implement USPC’s Communications Strategy. This involves supporting the production of engaging web and social media content (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter) through storytelling and visual assets. You’ll also assist in creating digital/multimedia materials, including video content (drafting scripts/storyboards), and regular e-newsletters. Furthermore, you’ll support the production of various advocacy materials like pitch decks and promotional items, and handle drafting, copyediting, and translation (English to Korean and vice versa) for web, social media, and knowledge products. You’ll also conduct technical reviews of USPC’s online channels to boost visibility and support knowledge management.
- Outreach & Event Support (25%): You’ll help organize UNDP meetings and public-facing events, such as joint campaigns with universities, partnership consultations, webinars, and conferences. This also includes supporting media outreach and public information campaigns for flagship events by drafting press releases, researching media opportunities, and preparing for interviews. You’ll additionally assist with reporting and M&E by producing relevant communication assets.
- Cross-cutting & Administrative Tasks (15%): Your responsibilities will extend to taking records of events, meetings, and visits, supporting onsite promotion at outreach activities (e.g., career fairs), and assisting incoming missions from UNDP HQs and partners. You’ll also maintain relevant files and databases and perform liaison/administrative tasks for daily office operations.
Who We’re Looking For: Your Profile as a Communications Intern in Seoul
Education: You must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree.
- Have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent studies).
Your field of study should be international development, international relations, sociology, political science, public administration, communication and media, journalism, public relations, or an equivalent field.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Korean is required.
- Fluency in other UN languages is considered an asset.
IT Skills:
- You should be proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools.
- Proficiency in social media and creative design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) is an advantage.
Competencies:
- You have a strong interest and motivation in working for an international organization.
- You possess good analytical skills for gathering and consolidating data/research.
- You are outgoing, proactive, and goal-oriented.

Internship Conditions & Important Information:
- Stipend: UNDP provides a monthly stipend (for 2025, this is KRW 1,169,728). However, UNDP will not cover other expenses related to the internship, which remain the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
- Health & Travel: Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas, arranging travel, and providing proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan. UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs from accidents, illness, or death during the internship.
- Legal Status: Interns are not staff members and cannot represent UNDP in any official capacity.
- Work Schedule: Interns are expected to work full-time, but flexibility is allowed for educational programs.
- Financing: Interns need to secure their own financing for subsistence, travel, visa, accommodation, and other expenses.
