What You’ll Do as a Humanitarian Fundraising Intern:
As a Humanitarian Fundraising Intern, you will play a key role in boosting OCHA’s resource mobilization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Marketing & Strategy: You will help create compelling content for campaigns that target private companies, charitable foundations, and individual donors. Furthermore, you will contribute to building tailored fundraising plans. Additionally, you will update marketing materials designed for our business partners and donors.
- Fundraising Support: You will actively seek out new private sector donor leads. Moreover, you will help manage existing key donor accounts, ensuring you communicate regularly, report clearly, and provide visibility. This work involves close coordination with other OCHA teams, such as the Digital Visibility Unit. You will also assist in writing specific project proposals for private foundations and companies. Furthermore, you will help organize important events that expand our fundraising and engagement opportunities. Finally, you will support our institutional procedures for private partnerships, including ensuring we follow all due diligence rules.
- Meeting Preparation: You will prepare detailed briefings and background documents before meetings with corporations, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Other Tasks: You may also take on other duties as needed to support the team’s goals.
Who We’re Looking For:
To qualify for this United Nations Internship Programme, you must meet these conditions:
- Education: You must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program (Master’s or higher), or you must be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program. Your chosen field of study should directly relate to fundraising, marketing, international relations, or a similar area that benefits the United Nations during your internship.
- Skills: You need excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications is also essential. Moreover, you should demonstrate a clear ability to interact successfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs. This means you are willing to understand and respect different opinions and views. While professional work experience is not a requirement, your training, education, or skills should directly contribute to the United Nations during your internship.
- Languages: You must speak and write both English and French fluently. Knowing any other official United Nations language is a plus.
