What You’ll Do: Driving Global Child Protection Initiatives as a Humanitarian Consultant

As our Humanitarian Child Protection Consultant, you will provide crucial technical leadership and coordination, directly impacting how we protect vulnerable children worldwide. Specifically, your expertise will effectively support:

Strategic Leadership & Coordination for Child Protection Initiatives

  • Guide global efforts: First and foremost, you will provide technical leadership on Child Protection Case Management (CPCM) and Information Management for Case Management (IM4CM) in humanitarian settings.
  • Interagency collaboration: Furthermore, you will closely coordinate with partners on IM4CM and the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS+), notably including the Primero team.
  • Policy dissemination: Lastly, you will support the roll-out and adaptation of interagency policy guidance on CPCM, emphasizing digitalization and capacity building.

Knowledge & Evidence Building for Humanitarian Protection Strategies

  • Strengthen governance: For instance, you will support the CPIMS+ Steering Committee’s coordination functions, facilitating meetings and ensuring inter-system interoperability (e.g., with UNHCR ProGres).
  • Build capacity: In addition, you will assist the Case Management Task Force (CMTF) in rolling out training packages on CPCM, IM4CM, and CPIMS+ tools (Data Protection, Information Sharing, etc.).
  • Generate insights: Consequently, you will help UNICEF and the sector build evidence on CPCM, including for refugee and mixed migration contexts, and enhance monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

Capacity Strengthening & Technical Support in Child Protection Consultancy

  • Disseminate guidelines: Therefore, you will lead the roll-out of revised interagency CPCM guidelines and tools across UNICEF and partner platforms (CPAoR, Alliance for CPHA), as well as within UNICEF itself.
  • Digitalization guidance: Moreover, you will support the dissemination and adaptation of interagency policy on digitalization (DPIA, DPISP, Data Categorization Framework).
  • Country-level assistance: Crucially, you will provide direct technical support for case management and IM4CM programming in priority humanitarian settings (L3, L2, refugee, and mixed migration contexts), including CPIMS+ rollouts in close collaboration with global and regional Primero teams.
  • Facilitate learning: Ultimately, you will organize stock-taking webinars to promote experience sharing and strengthen CPIMS+ implementation globally.

 

Who We’re Looking For: Your Expertise as a Child Protection Specialist

You are a committed, creative professional with:

  • An Advanced University Degree (Master’s) in a relevant field.
  • 5-8 years of experience specifically in child protection case management.
  • A strong technical understanding of information management for case management work and information management systems for case management.
  • Proven experience using the Interagency CPIMS (IA CP IMS) and CPIMS+.
  • Advanced skills in information technology.
  • Demonstrable partnership, training, and capacity-building skills with diverse stakeholders (UN, INGOs, Alliance for CPHA).
  • Strong communication, organizational, inter-personal, and leadership abilities.
  • The flexibility to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing complex projects and meeting deadlines from different stakeholders.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial reporting.

Duration: September 2, 2025 to February 27, 2026 (approximately 6 months). Location: REMOTE (Home/Office Based, anywhere in the United States).
