About the Graphic Design Intern Role
The UNDP JPOSC/TAPP, first and foremost, serves as a crucial human resource service center. It notably manages young talent programs, including the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme. As a Graphic Design Intern, you will consequently play a vital role in enhancing UNDP’s employer branding and communications, ensuring that the JPOSC operates with excellence and delivers client-oriented services. What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities for This UNDP Internship
This Graphic Design Intern UNDP role focuses heavily on graphic design; however, it also includes significant communications, outreach, and data support.
Graphic Design (approx. 90%):
- Brand Application: You’ll consistently apply UNDP’s employer branding guidelines across all internal and external communication assets and knowledge products.
- Content Creation: For instance, you’ll design compelling visuals for social media (posts, stories), newsletters, posters, brochures, presentations, one-pagers, infographics, and motion graphics.
- Video Production: Additionally, you’ll create and edit engaging videos using Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Web Assets: Furthermore, you’ll develop digital assets (infographics, photos, motion graphics) for UNDP’s Career Website, TAPP/JPOSC web, and social media channels.
- Data Visualization: Moreover, you’ll support the visual presentation of complex data using appropriate tools.
Communications:
- Social Media Management: You’ll assist in managing and optimizing content for our social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), targeting various stakeholders.
- Vacancy Advertising: Consequently, you’ll help advertise JPO, SDP, and other UNDP Young Talent vacancies through social media channels.
- Content Research: Beyond that, you’ll research relevant content and stories for social media, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
Outreach & Data:
- Reporting Design: You’ll support the visual design of the quarterly bulletin, presenting TAPP/JPOSC news and statistics.
- Database Support: Additionally, you’ll assist in updating the JPO and SDP databases (Microsoft Excel).
- Data Analysis: Furthermore, you’ll provide support for data analysis and statistics using Excel.
Other (approx. 10%):
- You’ll conduct research for various best practices depending on current projects.
- You’ll also provide support to any ad hoc activities related to the JPO Programme.
- Moreover, you’ll assist with organizational activities within the team.
- Lastly, you’ll provide support when needed with the online onboarding process of the JPOs.

Who UNDP Seeks for This Graphic Design Role (Qualifications & Competencies)
Education & Experience: Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; OR
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; OR
- Have graduated no longer than 1 year ago from a Master’s degree or equivalent studies.
- Field of study: Specifically, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Digital Arts, Advertising and Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Prior experience working in social media is considered an asset.
IT Skills:
- Essential: You need very good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. This includes working knowledge of Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
- Desirable: Basic knowledge of HTML is highly desirable.
- Plus: Basic knowledge of CSS will be an added advantage.
Language Skills:
- Required: Fluency in English is mandatory.
- Asset: Good working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a definite plus.
Competencies:
- You should possess the ability to summarize large amounts of information and translate it into a visually compelling product for a social media audience.
- You must demonstrate strong interest and motivation in working for an international organization.
- Furthermore, you should have good analytical skills.
- Lastly, you need to be good at organizing and structuring various tasks and responsibilities.
