About This Dynamic UN Public Information Internship

As a Public Information Intern, you’ll play a key role in helping UNRIC connect with many different groups across Europe. Specifically, you’ll gain hands-on experience in content creation, working with the media, and engaging with the public for a global organization. This Public Information Intern UN role offers unique exposure to international communications.

Here are the main tasks you’ll handle as a Public Information Intern:

  • First, you’ll assist in writing and translating interesting articles for the UNRIC website.
  • Next, you’ll help manage and update our social media accounts, including writing and editing strong content.
  • Furthermore, you’ll support Desk Officers by keeping an eye on the news and connecting with relevant media outlets.
  • In addition, you’ll assist in daily talks with community groups, universities, and NGOs in various countries.
  • Moreover, you’ll help prepare and organize events that highlight the important work of the UN in relevant European countries.
  • Finally, you’ll also perform other duties as assigned to support the team’s goals.

Location & Expected Duration for Your UN Public Information Internship

This important Public Information Internship lasts 4 to 6 months and is based at UNRIC in Brussels, Belgium.


Who We’re Looking For for This Public Information Role

We’re seeking enthusiastic and smart individuals who meet one of these school requirements:

  • You are currently studying for, or have finished, a graduate degree (like a Master’s degree or higher).
  • Alternatively, you are currently in, or have finished, the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program.

Even though professional work experience isn’t required for this UN internship, it’s important that your area of study is closely related to communications, public relations, international relations, or a similar field. Therefore, this is your chance to use what you’ve learned in school in a real, international setting.


Language Skills Required for Your UN Public Information Internship

  • You must speak and write fluent English. Indeed, this is a core working language of the UN.
  • In addition, you must be fluent in one or more of the following languages: Danish, Dutch, French, Finnish, Greek, Italian, Norwegian, or Portuguese. This is essential for our work across the region.
